Westpoint Candidate Anthony Mendez wins 2nd Place in National Orienteering Event!
Team Chicago JROTC under the command of Major Roger Seymore and Commander Paul Muffler, competed in the Georgia Navigators Cup held at Hard Labor Creek State Park, Rutledge Georgia, January 16th and 17th, 2010. ...Tawani foundation whose mission it is to affect significant transformation of organizations and educational programs that enrich knowledge and to preserve military heritage, also featured a visit to the Chicamauga National Battlefield which played a pivital role in the Civil War. The Cadets from JROTC programs at Taft, Phoenix , Chicago Military, Lane Tech, and Carver, received a detailed explanation of the battle from a park ranger and discussed the strategies and events that occured in this important Civil War Battle. The next morning the Cadets competed in the Georgia Navigators Cup, an extreme orienteering event that challenged the most experience participants. Congratulations to Cadet Anthony Mendez for placing second overall on the Orange Course in this prestigious event.
